Welcome
Dear Teachers, School Administrators, and
School Counselors,
Michigan Technological University Youth
Programs has been partnering with K-12
schools since 1972 in providing unique
programming to help excite students about
education, especially in STEM related
fields. Our 6th - 8th grade Summer
Camps and 9th - 11th grade
Career and Adventure Explorations
provide an intensive week-long look at a
particular field or area of interest,
working with students from around the
country and world, all while living on the
campus of a level 1 research university. We
focus on utilizing world class campus
facilities and faculty to provide students
with a dynamic hands-on learning experience
that compliments the hard work you are all
doing in preparing students for their future
career aspirations.
Program
Testimonials
Post-program surveys (2009)
-
80% of our
Women in Engineering and 83% of our
Explorations in Engineering participants
felt more likely to have a future career
in engineering after attending our
programs.
-
Over 90% of
the participants stated they were more
likely to attend college after attending
one of our programs.
-
Over 94% of
the participants would recommend
attending our programs to other
students.
-
Over 97% of
the parents of the participants felt our
programs offered their children an
academic experience not available in
their child's school.
-
99% of the
parents stated that it was Extremely or
Very Likely that their child will attend
college or post-secondary school
training.
Results like these could not be possible
without the phenomenal efforts of K-12
teachers, administrators, and school
counselors in helping shape future hopes and
aspirations of these diverse and talented
young men and women. Our goal at Youth
Programs is to supplement all of your
efforts with our innovative programming,
energizing students to learn more about what
career paths lay before them. Students leave
our programs with the confidence that they
can be successful in their post-secondary
endeavors. They also understand that their
school teachers, counselors, and staff will
help them make these dreams into a reality.
We thank you for your support in creating
the leaders and workforce of tomorrow. As
partners, we also welcome your feedback as
our programs grow to meet the ever changing
demands of parents, education, and industry.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Thank you for making a difference!
Sincerely,

Steve Patchin
