:: Transportation To MTU
By
Car
Michigan Tech is located in Michigan's Upper Peninsula along U.S. Highway 41 on the east side of Houghton. Both U.S. Highway 41 or Michigan Highway 26 will take you directly to Houghton. Maps and parking instructions will be provided once you are enrolled.
Participants who drive themselves to YP will be assigned a parking area. Because participants are not permitted to drive while attending YP, they will be asked to keep their keys in the Youth Programs safe at the residence hall.
By Air
Houghton is serviced by an airline. Contact the Keweenaw Peninsula Chamber of Commerce at 906-482-5240 for more information. YP staff will provide transportation to and from the airport anytime, day or night.
SYP
Charter Bus
This is by far the most popular way to
come to Michigan Tech! Students enjoy
getting to meet staff and make new
friends before arriving on campus. We
offer chaperoned charter bus service
from selected locations in Michigan:
tentatively, Lansing, Detroit, Bay City
and Gaylord. Spaces are available on a
first-come, first-served basis, with
preference given to round-trip riders. A
limited number of one-way seats may be
available. If you are interested in
charter bus service, please indicate so
on the application form. More
information will be sent in your Welcome
Packet.
Round Trip
$250 (You may choose to be picked up
and dropped off at different
locations and still qualify for a
round-trip). This includes a $25
non-refundable deposit. After May
15, 2008 there are no refunds.
One Way
$150 This includes a $25
non-refundable deposit. After May
15, 2008 there are no refunds.
Charter transportation requests are not
guaranteed until you receive
confirmation from the Youth Programs
office. If you request a seat after we
have reached full capacity, you will
receive a full refund of any
transportation fees paid (including the
non-refundable $25 deposit).
