Summer Youth Explorations
:: Community Standards
The
greatest priority of Michigan Tech Youth
Programs is the well-being of our
students.
Each
participant is expected to be courteous
and to respect the rights and property
of all other participants, staff
members, and the University.
Students
show respect for themselves and others
by attending and being mentally engaged
in all required sessions, being free
from controlled substances (alcohol,
tobacco, drugs, and weapons of any
kind), respecting campus boundaries, and
refraining from inappropriate behaviors
(profanity, fighting, and other
dangerous or disruptive activities).
Students
also help to maintain a healthy
atmosphere in the residence hall by
signing in and out of the residence hall
while on campus, only leaving campus
with a program staff member, respecting
gender boundaries, observing the posted
on-floor time, parking any personal cars
and turning keys into the program staff
for the duration of the program, and not
scheduling any visits from friends not
involved with the program.
Students
who engage in dangerous or inappropriate
behavior will be removed from the
program and sent home at their own
expense. Any program fees will be
forfeited if a student is removed from
the program. Student removal is rare and
made at the sole discretion of the
program staff.
The
program’s community standards will be
provided in more detail with enrollment
materials and must be signed by
participants and parents.
