College credit courses will be offered during the summer of 2010 by Michigan Technological University through our Youth Programs division. These courses will be exclusively operated through the Michigan Tech Youth Programs, available to only talented young men and women entering their junior and senior years of high school.

These exciting college academic courses are three-week residential programs held on the campus of Michigan Technological University. Students enrolled in these courses will receive college instruction by our University staff. Participants will also be supported by learning centers operated by the same University professional staff that provides student support to our undergrads on campus to aid in their academic success. Participants will reside in Douglass Houghton Hall (DHH) under the supervision of our professionally trained multi-national staff. When not in class, students will partake in a wide variety of supervised recreational activities with a diverse group of talented peers, all of which are attending other Summer Youth Programs on campus. Weekends will be filled with excursions throughout the Western Upper Peninsula of Michigan, enjoying the unique beauty of this Lake Superior paradise.

This unique experience will allow participants the opportunity to develop the skills needed to be successful college students. Participants will:

  • Experience residence hall life.
  • Learn to work with a diverse group of students they have just met.
  • Learn the academic responsibilities they will have.
  • Gain both a working knowledge and comfort with University-sponsored support services available to all students.
  • Take part in exciting content-rich courses for college credit.
  • Gain role models from our counseling staff made up of successful undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Explore the many outdoor adventures available to them in the scenic surroundings of the Upper Peninsula.
