Welcome
Welcome to Youth Programs! For many of you,
this will be the first experience your
family has with sending your student to a
program away from home for more than one day.
We are sure you have many questions about
how the program operates that go beyond the
information you may have already received.
We hope that our newly-designed website
provides you with a better understanding of
the operations of our programs. We have also
provided you with a frequently-asked
question section (see FAQ)
with common inquiries that we have received
from parents throughout our many years of
operation (since 1972!)
The greatest priority of Michigan Tech Youth
Programs is the well-being of our students.
Each participant is expected to be courteous
and respect the rights and property of all
other participants, staff members, and the
University. A complete list of expectations
is compiled in the Community Standards and
Parental Consent Form (see
Signature Page)
that must be read and signed by all
participants and their parents.
Feedback from parents has been a vital
component of our continued growth. As such,
please note any suggestions you might have
to make this pre-college experience a better
one for our future programming and include
it on our post-program surveys.
In 2009, here is what parents told us:
One of our parent quotes regarding their
student's experience at Michigan Tech Youth
Programs in July of 2009 was,
"It's a growing
experience no matter what the personality or
interest of the child. My other two kids
attended in previous years and really
learned a lot not only about the subject
matter, but about themselves."
We look forward
to hearing from you regarding questions you
may have about our programs, many of which
will be answered as you explore our website.
I look forward to meeting you and your
student at our programs this summer!
Sincerely,

Steve Patchin
Director of Youth Programs Outreach and
Engagement
